How we sit on your side of the table
Recently one of our team members went through an odd experience. After signing up a new client, their old insurance agent called us with some not kind words. One of the major accusations was that we’re a “captive agency" which is incorrect. Luckily insurance is one of the most regulated industries in the country, and lays out very specific definitions and requirements.
Beltex is in fact an independent agency - we represent multiple carriers (over 40!) The specific accusation was regarding our MSProtect policy, but we also offer an instant quote/bind (i.e. purchase) admitted cyber policy, and have another policy built for multiple state bar associations to help small law firms get affordable cyber coverage. How do these policies interact with our regulatory and ethical obligations?
Our unique policies are built on a “programs” basis. In each case, Beltex identified a need, built a proposal with rates and coverage, then approached multiple carriers to see which one could create that policy. In each case, Beltex was made the exclusive distributor of that policy. The critical piece is that in the event of a claim, Beltex has ZERO authority - we still sit on the policy holder’s side of the table. We do however have strong influence with the carrier to advocate for our clients. One of our founders has personally been hands on with every single claim made, and to date (July 2026) every claim submitted has been paid out 100%, no ifs ands or buts.
